Championship leader Jordan King has confirmed his title ambitions by topping the final two practice sessions of the British F3 season at Nurburgring.

In session one, which took place in damp track conditions, King’s title rivals Will Buller and Antonio Giovinazzi were also in contention for the quickest lap, eventually slotting in second and third respectively. Other Carlin drivers – Jann Mardenborough and Nicholas Latifi – rounded out the top five, with Felipe Guimaraes taking sixth.

Spike Goddard kicked off his team’s first appearance in British F3 in 2013 with seventh, while fellow one-off driver Alfonso Celis was tenth. Double R regulars Sean Gelael and Tatiana Calderon ended the session in eighth and ninth.

Session two saw King dethrone his teammate Latifi with a late-lap effort, with the Canadian having to settle for second. Mardenborough completed a Carlin 1-2-3, ahead of Fortec’s top man Buller, with Gelael being the final driver within a second of the lead.

Guimaraes and Giovinazzi took sixth and seventh respectively, ahead of Goddard, Calderon and Celis.
