Narain Karthikeyan has joined the Super Nova team at short notice ahead of this weekend’s Auto GP round at Silverstone.
The ex-Formula 1 driver contested the opening three weekends of the season with Zele Racing, but left the team after a disappointing run of results.
He has now switched to Super Nova, who won last year’s title with Adrian Quaife-Hobbs. He has a long relationship with the British team and its boss David Sears, including his time driving for the Indian A1 Grand Prix squad.
Karthikeyan replaces Antonio Spavone, who left before the last round at the Hungaroring, and joins Italian drivers Vittorio Ghirelli and Francesco Dracone.
“I am pleased to have found this opportunity to compete with Super Nova in Auto GP,” said Karthikeyan. “I have known the team for a long time and they have been one of the most successful teams in single seaters over the years, so I am confident that we can hit the ground running this weekend.”
Sears added: “It’s a pleasure to welcome Narain back into the Super Nova family. Having watched him race from a very early age we know exactly what he is capable of and I am sure that together we can enjoy much success in the Auto GP Series.”
