John Bennett will move teams to Carlin next year for his second season racing in GB3.

The 19-year-old had a brief karting career before moving into car racing in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge. He came seventh in his rookie season in 2010, then was championship runner-up last year with five race wins.

For 2022 he moved across into single-seater racing and straight into GB3 with Elite Motorsport, the team that had run him in Ginettas, and he came eighth in the standings with one podium finish. He has since tested with Carlin, and is the team’s first signing for 2023.

“I’m really excited to be joining Carlin for the upcoming 2023 GB3 season, they are one of the most prestigious teams in motorsport and their history of success within this championship, and many others, is undeniable,” said Bennett.

“My goal for next year will be to win the championship – I am very confident that I will have everything at my disposal to be able achieve this and I can’t wait get racing again next year. In the meantime, we will be undergoing a strong winter testing programme to ensure that we are in the best possible position to hit the ground running at round one.”

Carlin came second in the teams’ championship this year and won three races in GB3, and ran Zak O’Sullivan to the 2021 title.

“We are thrilled to welcome John to the team for the 2023 season,” team principal Trevor Carlin said.

“John had a strong 2022 season and it was great to see him pick up that podium in the final round – he has shown a clear consistency and we have no doubt he can continue this momentum into next season.”
