Jack Aitken has joined Campos Racing for his second year in Formula 2.
Aitken, the Renault Formula 1 team’s test and reserve driver, competed for ART Grand Prix during his rookie campaign in 2018, finishing 11th in the standings.
His highlights were finishing second in the feature race in Baku – from the pitlane after stalling at the start – and a sprint race victory at Barcelona.
He joins a Campos team that took Luca Ghiotto to eighth place in the standings last year, having spent one day with the team in the Abu Dhabi post-season test.
“I?m extremely excited to start working with Campos Racing after a promising start in post-season testing,” said Aitken.
“They have the ambition and ability to compete at the very top, and although there?s plenty of work to be done I?m confident we?ll be up to it come round one.
“We are aiming for the top, nothing less.”
Team boss Adrian Campos added: “We are delighted to have Jack join our team. He is an extremely talented driver and putting all elements together we will fight for top honours. We will aspire to the highest goals with our work and Jack?s natural talent”
Formula 3 graduates Ralf Aron and Marino Sato were among the other drivers that Campos tried out during the Abu Dhabi test, with both yet to announce plans for 2019.
