Honda junior Teppei Natori went fastest for Carlin on the first day of Euroformula Open’s pre-season Barcelona test.

Natori was fastest in the first of four sessions held over the day, setting a benchmark that went unbeaten.

Initially Carlin team-mates Christian Hahn and Nicolai Kjaergaard were the next best, but session-topping times by Teo Martin Motorsport’s Lukas Dunner and Guilherme Samaia pushed them ahead.

The third Teo Martin and Carlin cars of Aldo Festante and Billy Monger were sixth and seventh fastest, and the only other two drivers to get within a second of the front.

Spanish Formula 4 driver Franco Colapinto was an impressive eighth for Drivex School, ahead of RP Motorsport’s two drivers and the remaining Drivex cars, which included W Series hopeful Marta Garcia.

Welsh team CF Racing struggled on its EF Open debut, with lead driver Stefano Leaney overcoming setup issues to go 14th fastest.
