Fortec have decided on the candidacies of the two drivers to partner Felix Serralles and Pipo Derani in their lineup for the 2013 European F3 season, with the signings of Josh Hill and Dmitry Suranovich rounding out their lineup, according to Motorsport News,
The 22-year-old son of F1 World Champion Damon Hill has been testing himself in various single-seater categories since 2009. He spent the first two years in British Formula Ford with Jamun Racing, finishing 11th and fifth in the standings respectively. In 2011, he joined the Toyota Racing Series over in New Zealand for the beginning of the year, finishing 13th in the standings, and afterwards continued his career with a full-time drive in Formula Renault 2.0 UK, where he was seventh at the end of the year.
2012 saw Hill take another stab at TRS (finishing fourth on his second attempt) and then move full-time to Formula Renault 2.0 NEC, where he finished the season in third, behind fellow Brits Jake Dennis and Jordan King.
Motorsport News state that Hill is likely to do all four rounds of the 2013 British F3 season alongside his European F3 campaign.
Suranovich, 17, graduated from karting in 2011, with various part-time appearances in Formula Abarth. In 2012, he joined Marussia Manor in GP3 (after a stab at the TRS series that saw him finish 12th) and didn’t score points in his rookie season, managing a best finish of 11th. At the beginning of 2013, Suranovich took part in a rather under-populated edition of the F3 Brazil Open race at Interlagos, finishing second.
2013 will mark Fortec’s switch to European F3, as the team did not run any drivers in the category full-time last year, focusing on British F3 instead.
