Elite Motorsport’s Finn Harrison won the final GB4 race of the weekend at Silverstone.
There was confusion at the beginning, with the first start aborted, and when the green flags were waved to signal a second formation lap some drivers mistakenly thought the race had got underway. With several cars continuing at racing speed for a few corners, officials neutralised proceedings by displaying red flags.
The cars then lined up on the grid for the second start, and VRD’s Ava Dobson stalled from reversed-grid pole when the lights went out.
Fox Motorsport’s Megan Bruce took the lead from the inside on the front row, while Harrison snatched second from Fortec Motorsports’ Jack Taylor at Becketts. The trio went three-wide on the Hangar Straight, and again into Vale, where Harrison grabbed the lead on the inside.
Taylor and Bruce made light contact into the next corner at Club, with Taylor eventually claiming second before the first lap was completed, and Bruce lost a further spot to team-mate Templeton on lap two after going off the track at Becketts.
Graham Brunton Racing’s Callum Baxter and Arden’s Leon Wilson tangled at Luffield and retired in the gravel trap, leading to the safety car being deployed before the end of the second lap.
By this stage KMR Sport’s Lucas Blakeley had made up five places to sixth ahead of team-mate Harry Burgoyne Jr. Having been awarded a three-place grid penalty for her race-two clash with Fortec’s Linus Granfors, Elite’s Motorsport’s Alisha Palmowski moved up to seventh ahead of the Swedish racer.
The front three pulled clear at the restart, while Bruce soon lost out to KMR duo Chloe Grant and Blakeley as well as Palmowski.
Harrison eventually pulled away to win by four seconds, while Taylor held off Templeton for second. Blakeley was just 0.1s behind at the finish having passed Grant and then gone on a late charge.
Grant came home fifth ahead Burgoyne, who snatched sixth on the final lap from Palmowski. Granfors was eighth ahead of Bruce, Hickey and Dobson.
