Motopark’s Euroformula points leader Oliver Goethe was fastest across free practice on Friday at the Red Bull Ring.

Goethe topped the early morning session, although BVM Racing’s Francesco Simonazzi set a competitive pace that put him in first place for much of the time.

He was only usurped by Goethe with six minutes to go of FP1, by over half a second as the Dane set a 1m25.501s lap.

Goethe then found even more pace late on, improving to 1m25.039s to end the session 0.446 seconds up on Simonazzi.

Track limits was a big issue at Turn 9, with only Drivex School’s Ayrton Simmons avoiding having a laptime deleted for running wide there.

Heavy rain hit the circuit in time for FP2 in the middle of the day, and Simonazzi set the pace. Laptimes were 11s slower than in the morning, but drivers spent just as much time on track.

CryptoTower Racing Team’s Vlad Lomko was second fastest, 0.158s off Simonazzi, while Goethe and Simmons were just over half a second off the pace.
