Danial Frost is the second driver announced by Andretti Autosport for the 2021 Indy Lights season, joining Kyle Kirkwood.

Frost was expected to graduate into Lights for the 2020 season from Indy Pro 2000 with Andretti, but the season was abandoned before the season-opener due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Instead, Frost participated in IP2000 with Turn 3 Motorsport, as well as in the first 10 races of the Formula Regional Americas championship with Andretti.

Frost won first-time out at Road America in IP2000 and finished third in the championship after a double podium at St. Petersburg. He finished eighth overall in FR Americas, taking a podium at Sebring.

“I’m very happy to announce my re-signing with Andretti Autosport for the 2021 Indy Lights season,” said Frost.

“I’m looking forward to this coming year with my expectations being at the highest. I believe myself joining Andretti Autosport will help me succeed and achieve the goal I have set: winning. Thank you to everyone making this possible including my family, friends, sponsors, fans and Andretti Autosport.”

Andretti Autosport president J-F Thormann said: “We are excited to welcome Danial back to the Indy Lights program. Given the circumstances of the 2020 season, Frost handled his experience in FR Americas and IP2000 very well and it will be great to see him in Indy Lights for the 2021 season.”

It is expected that many drivers who were set to race in Lights for ’20 will do so in ’21 as well as graduates Sting Ray Robb and Linus Lundqvist, but Belardi Auto Racing ending its motorsport activities and HMD Motorsport’s partnership with Global Racing Group means changes are to be expected.
