16-year-old Swede Pontus Fredricsson took his first win in Formula Renault 1.6 in a rained out third race of the Nordic series round at Falkenberg.

Fredricsson, who edged out points leader Joonas Lappalainen to secure pole in qualifying, picked up the victory in a race which was driven entirely under safety car due to torrential rain.

As such, much of the race classification mirrored that from qualifying, with the sole exception of Kevin Aabol and Karl Ero, who retired after coming together on lap three.

Lappalainen, who endured a miserable weekend up to that point, strengthened his championship lead with second, while Paul Blomqvist rounded out the podium.

Ilmari Korpivaara was fourth ahead of Otto Tjader and Saturday race winner Lukas Sundahl.

Robin Fredriksson, Rasmus Ericsson and Robert Svensson completed the running order.

The fourth race of the weekend was called off due to the difficult weather conditions.

In the standings, Lappalainen leads the classification with 137 points. Sundahl sits at 122, ahead of Fredricsson and Aabol with 105 and 86 respectively.
