Francesco Pizzi was almost a third of a second up on the opposition on day two of Formula Regional European Championship testing at Vallelunga.

The Italian Formula 4 frontrunner was making his first Formula 3 test appearance with Van Amersfoort Racing, and topped two of the four sessions on Friday.

His best lap in the first morning session, a 1m29.150s, ended up standing as the fastest of the test as the field failed to get quicker through the second day of the test.

Not a single driver improved on the laps they set in that first session, meaning Jamie Chadwick ended up second fastest and leading a Prema quartet covered by 0.060s.

Points leader Arthur Leclerc was next best of those, and topped the first afternoon session, with Gianluca Petecof and Oliver Rasmussen filling the place on the timesheet below him. Petecof actually only recorded laps in session one, while Chadwick joined him in sitting out the final session.

Spanish F4 racer Lorenzo Fluxa topped that last session for VAR, but was only sixth fastest over the day ahead of recent series debutant Nicola Marinangeli (VAR) and Emidio Pesce (DR Formula).
