Euroformula runner-up Louis Foster was fastest in his first official Road to Indy test on Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s road course, driving in the Chris Griffis Test’s Indy Pro 2000 segment.

Foster had already tested privately with Jay Howard Driver Development this year, and joined Exclusive Autosport at Indianapolis.

He was fastest in the wet and the dry, by a substantial amount in the slippery conditions, and set his personal best in the opening Sunday test session to put himself a tenth of a second up on Jack William Miller.

Juncos Hollinger Racing’s Reece Gold was third fastest overall, and the pacesetter in the slower, middle Sunday session,

At the back of the 17-car field was automotive YouTuber Casey Putsch at Legacy Autosport. Putsch tests and helps youngsters engineer high-downforce single-seaters, but he’s taking a sideways step from his career so far by signing with Legacy for next year’s IP2000 season.

“On the driver side of things, I had Rodolfo Lavin’s ex-Swift Formula Atlantic and ran that quite a while ago as well as occasionally driving a mid-90s Indy car in tests,” Putsch explained.

“I have raced production-based cars, sports racers, Formula Ford, Formula Atlantic, Can-Am, WSC prototype, IMSA GTO Corvette, vintage Trans-Am and even a Bill Thomas Cheetah. I continue to race my Top Kart locally in the LO206 class.

“My goal is to race in the IndyCar series and the Indy 500, be a positive public figure for young people and show that you can still dare to dream and attain impossible dreams. Currently, I’m 17 years older than the next oldest person in the field.”

The NASCAR-experienced Jagger Jones topped the USF2000 segment of testing ahead of DEForce Racing’s Thomas Nepveu. There were also 14 cars attracted to that championship too.
