KIC Motorsport has announced that Jasin Ferati will return to its Formula Regional European Championship line-up for the rest of this season, as Elias Seppanen dissapears from his race seat.

Seppanen has contested the first seven events of the 10-round season, picking up a single points finish and currently sitting 23rd in the standings. He is absent from the races at Valencia Ricardo Tormo this weekend though, with Ferati taking his place.

Ferati was with Monolite Racing for the first half of the campaign, but split with the team during round five at Zandvoort and then picked up a one-off berth at KIC for the next round at Spa-Francorchamps after Patrik Pasma left for ART Grand Prix.

Reigning champion Gianluca Petecof nabbed that seat for the remainder of the season though, leaving Ferati without a drive until Seppanen’s Valencia absence opened a door. Not only will Ferati be driving this weekend, but he will also race for the team at Mugello and Monza next month.

The second-year car racer will be aiming for a personal best finish in single-seaters in the six races ahead, with the benchmark to beat being a fifth place in a Spanish Formula 4 cameo last year.

The only original member of KIC’s 2021 FREC line-up who remains is Nico Gohler. The German scored points in three of the five races he contested for the team last season, but this year he only has a best finish of 19th and is down in 33rd place in the championship standings.
