Low Dempsey Racing’s Max Esterston took his second BRSCC National Formula Ford 1600 win of the weekend after dominating a shortened race three on Silverstone’s National layout.

Esterson took the lead away at the start from team-mate Colin Queen, who was on reversed grid pole for the wet race.

From there, Esterson pulled out a two-second gap which he maintained until the race was red-flagged with a few minutes remaining due to an incident for Kevin Mills Racing’s Lukas Romanek at Luffield.

B-M Racing’s Rory Smith took second from Queen at Maggotts on lap three, but contact between the pair dropped Queen down the order with a damaged nose-cone.

Race two winner Middlehurst, who had made swift progress from seventh on the grid, passed Smith one corner later, the Team Dolan driver pulling away to finish in a comfortable second.

Smith was gradually caught for third by the battling trio of Thomas Mills (KMR), Jamie Sharp (B-M) and Joey Foster (Don Hardman Racing), but their battle was ended prematurely by the red flag.

Carter Williams had a lonely run to seventh for Oldfield Motorsport, with KMR’s Alex Walker recovering from the back of the grid following his race two collision to finish eighth.

Andre Lafond was ninth for LDR ahead of Clubman class runner Ben Tinkler.

Dolan’s Morgan Quinn and KMR’s Megan Gilkes were both early retirements after a collision.
