DAMS produced something of a surprise result in GP2 qualifying at Barcelona as their drivers Marcus Ericsson and Stephane Richelmi claimed a one-two result.

The four bonus points for pole position are Ericsson?s first of the season after a torrid opening two rounds to the season. The Swede led much of the session before team-mate Richelmi bettered his effort in the dying moments. Ericsson however managed to go 0.165 seconds quicker to claim his first GP2 pole.

The DAMS duo were the only drivers to go below the 1m29 barrier. Four tenths off in third place was practice pacesetter Felipe Nasr.

The next five drivers were all within two tenths of Nasr?s time. Bahrain sprint race winner Sam Bird kept up his strong early-season form to take P4 ahead of championship leader Stefano Coletti and nearest rival Fabio Leimer, who has work to do to extend his unbeaten feature race record.

2012 Barcelona pole-sitter James Calado was made to make do with seventh place, 0.003s ahead of Robin Frijns. Italians Kevin Ceccon and Kevin Giovesi did well to secure the final spots in the top ten.
