German F3 regular Emil Bernstorff will make his debut appearance in F3 Open this weekend at Silverstone, racing with Team West-Tec, the British squad which currently leads the teams’ championship.

“I am looking forward to racing in the F3 Open at Silverstone”, said the Briton. “I actually tested with Team West-Tec back in 2011 and it went well so I will be looking forward to seeing what I can achieve.”

20-year-old Bernstorff started his single-seater career in 2010, with seventh in British Formula Ford. One year later, he was the biggest rival of current Mercedes DTM driver Pascal Wehrlein in ADAC Formel Masters and he finished second. In 2012, Bernstorff raced in the F3 Euro Series with ma-con Motorsport, enduring a pretty difficul campaign that did see a single podium finish he could finish. This year, the Brit made a step back and entered German F3 with Motopark – he currently sits third in the standings with four wins and two pole positions. He also won the Formula Middle East series, taking victory in every single race of the championship.

Bernstorff is likely to be driving the car of Roberto La Rocca, who left F3 Open and will reportedly join the Auto GP field.
