Dion Gowda will step up to the Formula Regional European Championship with Van Amersfoort Racing in 2025 after two years in Formula 4.
The 16-year-old Indian began his single-seater career with Carlin at the start of 2023 in F4 United Arab Emirates, and came 25th in the standings with five points. He remained with them for a far more productive British F4 campaign in which he won four races, took two further podium finishes, was on pole position four times and came fourth in the standings.
Gowda returned to the UAE last winter, contesting the Trophy event for F4 cars with Xcel Motorsport and then joining the Prema-run Mumbai Falcons team for the 2024 F4 UAE season. This time a podium was the highlight and he improved to 11th in the points table.
A place in Prema’s F4 line-up in Europe followed, and Gowda took two podiums en route to 11th in Italian F4 and was 14th in Euro 4.
“I am super pleased to be racing for VAR next year. The team has a very successful past and I look forward to learning and achieving great things with them,” Gowda said of his step up for 2025.
VAR’s CEO Rob Niessink added: “We’re thrilled to welcome Dion to our FREC line-up for 2025. His progress in single-seaters has been impressive, and we’re excited to provide him with the platform to take the next step in his career. Dion has shown great determination and talent, and we look forward to supporting him on this new journey.”
