US Racing’s David Schumacher took a double Formula Regional European Championship pole at Barcelona in drizzly conditions.
Schumacher could have taken a triple pole, only missing out on the first place starting spot for race one to late flying laps by Prema’s Enzo Fittipaldi and Frederik Vesti as the track got a little drier.
In addition to his second pole of the season, Fittipaldi will start races two and three from the front row.
Championship leader Vesti will start in third for those two races, sharing the second row of the grid with Van Amersfoort Racing’s racing returnee Dan Ticktum.
Former Red Bull junior Ticktum was only sixth fastest in the first qualifying session, with Prema’s Olli Caldwell and VAR team-mate Sophia Floersch.
Igor Fraga, who won last time out at Imola, struggled in the conditions and will start from 10th, eighth and ninth across the three races for DR Formula by RP Motorsport.
