American racing driver David Morales will spend a second year with Arden, moving up from its British Formula 4 line-up to GB3.
The 18-year-old began his single-seater career in 2019, starting off in the Lucas Oil Formula Car Race Series before moving into NACAM F4 in 2020. He finished ninth in the points with one podium, and stayed in the championship last year.
He picked up a podium in the first race, but abandoned what ended up being a season of non-championship races and moved to British F4 where he claimed two podiums. Morales is Arden’s first announced driver for the 2022 GB3 season.
“I’m really excited to compete in the GB3 championship,” he said. “It’s a fantastic car to drive and an excellently organised championship. It’s exciting to write the next chapter of my career with the Arden team.”
Last month Morales was busy getting more experience of higher downforce machinery by racing in Formula Regional Asian Championship for Evans GP Academy. His best finish was a 15th place.
“Having David continue to work with us has been great news for everybody at Arden,” said Jack Woodhouse, Arden’s GB3 team manager.
“We are really pleased that David chose to continue with the team; we have made considerable progress with him and will continue to extract the most from each other.
“We believe the pre-season testing will be a huge benefit for him, it is something that he missed out on last season due to his late introduction to the championship. His early progress in the winter tests have shown us his level of preparation and work ethic are moving forwards as well.”
