DAMS has named the first driver for its new FIA Formula 3 team, with former Jenzer Motorsport driver Matias Zagazeta to stay on.

The French outfit is effectively taking the place of Jenzer on the grid for the next years, and Zagazeta remained part of the Swiss squad’s driver line-up for the recent post-season tests at Jerez and Barcelona.

Peruvian driver Zagazeta scored points just once in his rookie F3 campaign this year with a third place in the Silverstone sprint race. He was previously British Formula 4 runner-up in 2021, then came 32nd and 22nd in two seasons in Formula Regional Europe before stepping up to F3

“I’m very happy to join a team with such a rich history in motorsport, which has been a leading outfit in Formula 2 for several years,” Zagazeta said. “It’s a new environment for everyone in the championship with the updated car, but I hope that my knowledge will help us to achieve great results together.”

DAMS owner Charles Pic added: “After the testing days in Spain earlier this month we’re thrilled to confirm Matias for the 2025 season.

“It was always important for us to have a driver with experience in the series. We’re hopeful that Matias can provide us with a great insight along with our team’s proven methods that have served us well in recent years, helping us to start our F3 journey as best we can.”

Zagazeta was joined in the Jenzer line-up for both post-season tests by F3 newcomers Christian Ho and Nicola Lacorte.
