Dalton Kellett has joined Juncos Racing for his fourth season in Indy Lights, ending a long-running partnership with Andretti Autosport.
The 25-year-old Canadian joined Andretti in the Indy Pro 2000 championship in 2015, and has spent the last three years in Indy Lights with the team. In 52 starts, he has claimed one pole and five podiums.
Earlier this month he tested for Carlin at Circuit of the Americas, and was not in Juncos’s line-up for either of the post-season tests last year.
?Competing in the 2019 Indy Lights season with Juncos Racing is a very exciting opportunity,” Kellett said.
“Ricardo [Juncos] and his team have proven themselves championship winners on many occasions and across different series. As such, I am very enthusiastic about our partnership.”
“As a returning veteran to the series, consistency, podiums, and wins will be the focus for this year. It?s been a long off-season, so I’m ready for St. Pete.”
Juncos Racing were outperformed by Andretti last season, but with the team having highly rated IP2000 and Asian Formula 3 Winter Series champion Rinus VeeKay making his Indy Lights debut in its squad, team owner Ricardo Juncos believes the signing of Kellett will be crucial for success.
?We are really looking forward to working with an Indy Lights veteran like Dalton. He has continued to grow each year in the series, so we look to take this momentum and take it to the 2019 season.? said Juncos.
“Dalton is not only a great addition to our team, but also as a teammate for our rookie Rinus.”
Eight drivers are now signed up for the Indy Lights season, with Carlin yet to announce any drivers and Andretti and Belardi Auto Racing expected to add at least one more driver to their existing line-ups.
