Colin Kaminsky will make his single-seater comeback next year by returning to Indy Nxt with Abel Motorsports.

The 26-year-old American previously raced in IndyCar’s primary feeder series back in 2023, also with Abel, but did little over half of the season. He had a best finish of sixth, and qualified on the front row once.

Kaminsky switched to sportscars in 2024 via a move to Porsche Carrera Cup North America, then stepped away from racing this year to pursue other interests.

“I am extremely thrilled to come back to the Indy Nxt series in 2026,” said Kaminsky. “I have to thank [Abel] team principal] Bill Abel and [team manager] John Brunner for making this happen. They’re giving me the opportunity to reignite my open-wheel racing career, and it’s an opportunity that I’m looking forward to capitalizing on.

“I love driving the Dallara IL-15, and the tracks that Indy Nxt races at so just really looking forward to being back in the mix.”

Kaminsky added “my career has had plenty of highs and lows” and that he had found Indy Nxt’s car “a massive step compared to the lower formula series” in 2023 but his front row start proved “to myself and the team that I was starting to come alive”.

He claims that qualifying performance will influence his comeback campaign: “We weren’t able to convert that to a podium, but the confidence I gained is what I am taking with me to 2026.”

Prior to Indy Nxt, Kaminsky had spent three years in USF2000 and three in USF Pro 2000. His time in USF2000 ended in 2019 with Pabst Racing, and he came fourth in the standings with six podiums and three poles.

Kaminsky finished third on his USFP2000 debut, with two runner-up finishes and a pole position putting him eighth in the points table in his rookie campaign. He did the first three rounds of the 2021 season, followed by a half-season in which he matched his 2020 podium haul. All of Kaminsky’s races in USFP2000 were with Pabst.

“We are thrilled to have Colin back at Abel Motorsports for the 2026 season,” said Bill Abel. “He has shown great promise in his previous time in the Indy Nxt car, and we are looking for top-of-the-chart results from Colin.”

Abel mentioned earlier this year his team would have a four-car line-up in 2026. Jordan Missing is remaining at the team for a third year, 2025 USFP2000 champion Max Garcia is debuting, and Myles Rowe will continue for a third season in the Abel Motorsports with Force Indy entry.
