Christian Mansell will race for Rodin Motorsport in Formula 2 next year, after recently making his debut in the championship.
The 19-year-old signed with Trident in September to contest the last three rounds of the 2024 season, and on his debut in Baku he qualified 10th and scored points in both races. His next outing is at Losail next weekend.
Mansell’s primary programme this year was in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, where he came fifth in the standings with five podiums. He also did two Formula Regional Oceania rounds, which resulted in a win, three second places and two poles.
“I am thrilled to be returning to Rodin Motorsport for the 2025 season,” said Mansell. “The team has always been supportive, and I am excited to build on our past successes together. I look forward to the challenges ahead and am ready to give my best on the track.”
Mansell drove for Carlin, the team that Rodin bought, earlier in his single-seater career. He came seventh in British Formula 4 with them in 2020, and a year later came third in GB3 with two wins as well as making a Euroformula cameo with them.
He later joined Motopark for the last two rounds of the Euroformula season, and made the podium, before joining the team full-time for 2022 and claiming three victories en route to third in the standings. He has raced in single-seaters’ third tier since then, doing two FIA F3 rounds in 2022 and full seasons in the two years that followed.
“We are pleased to welcome Christian back to the team,” said Rodin’s F2 team manager Benn Huntingford.
“We’ve been impressed watching his step up to the F2 championship and know how great he is to work with from our previous seasons together. I’m looking forward to seeing him get behind the wheel of the car in Abu Dhabi with us and getting our season underway.”
