Christian Mansell has signed to race for ART Grand Prix in the FIA Formula 3 Championship next year.
The 18-year-old Australian has been racing in the third tier of single-seaters since 2021, starting off with three rounds in Euroformula that year and making the podium once.
He raced in the championship full-time in 2022 and won three races en route to third in the standings, and also contested two FIA F3 rounds. This year he drove for Campos Racing in the championship, taking two podiums and coming 12th in the standings. Mansell switched allegiances to ART GP last month as he joined the team for the Macau Grand Prix, finishing 16th.
“I’m super happy to sign with ART GP for the 2024 FIA F3 season. I’m looking forward to working with the team to achieve better results in the teams’ championship and for myself as a driver next year,” said Mansell.
“I’ve already competed in Macau with the team, so I’m very well integrated into the ART GP group, and I could not be happier. I’m really excited to start this new journey and I’m eagerly anticipating the upcoming race in Bahrain.”
Mansell will be team-mate to Formula Regional graduate Laurens van Hoepen, who finished 10th in Macau on his F3 debut, and one other yet-to-be confirmed driver.
“Christian has shown he has a good ability to learn and progress with a strong second half of the 2023 season,” said ART GP’s team principal Sebastien Philippe.
“He confirmed his qualities to the team during the off-season tests and in Macau. In 2024, he will have everything he needs to blossom and achieve both his goals as well as those of the team.”
