Formula 4 South East Asia race-winner and Spanish F4 frontrunner Nazim Azman will race in BRDC British Formula 3 this year with Chris Dittmann Racing.
The Malaysian, a champion karter in his home country, has spent the last two years racing in F4 and making occasional appearances in Asian championships like the MRF Challenge and Formula Masters China.
Although he led the Spanish F4 standings briefly last year, he failed to win a race, and was only 17th in the Italian F4 championship. Azman joined CDR for the British F3 media day test earlier this month and was 14th fastest.
?I?m excited to announce that I will be moving into the BRDC British F3 championship this season,? said Azman.
?It is a great series that has produced some great talents and I?m looking forward to following in their footsteps by joining Chris Dittmann Racing for my debut campaign. CDR has a reputation for evolving young driving talent and I?m looking forward to both learning the UK circuits and progressing my abilities behind the wheel with them.?
CDR will also be fielding British F4 runner-up Ayrton Simmons this season, who impressed in a part-season with the team last year. Since the introduction of a new car in 2016, CDR has not won a race, but did win four times during the previous BRDC British F4 era.
?It?s fantastic to welcome Nazim to the team for this year?s BRDC British F3 Championship,” added CDR team principal Chris Dittmann.
“His experience in his racing career so far gives him the ideal base line to start working from as he makes the step up to British F3, and we think he?s going to be capable of some excellent results. With Ayrton [Simmons and Nazim working together, we?ve got our most exciting British F3 line-up so far and can?t wait to get started at Oulton Park.?
