Cammish continues winning streak in first Donington race

Dan Cammish maintained his unbeaten start to the Formula Ford GB season with a fourth straight lights-to-flag win in the first race of the Donington Park weekend.

After taking pole position by 0.790 seconds in the earlier qualifying session, the JTR driver took an uncontested win.

?I managed to get away at the start,? said Cammish, ?and my plan was to use the speed of the JTR Mygale to make a break, and then just let them fight behind me, which is what they did. My car was great and the team have done a superb job to get it right after the problems we had in testing on Thursday.?

Jamun Racing’s Argentinian duo of Nico Maranzana and Juan Rosso started second and third and held their positions at first. Rosso, making his series debut after missing the Brands Hatch opener due to injury, put a move on his compatriot on lap five only to make a mistake a lap later and allow both Maranzana and Falcon’s Harrison Scott through.

Scott went on to take second from Maranzana and score his maiden podium finish in his second weekend in car racing. Maranzana faded, falling behind Rosso and Lassi Halminen. The Finn put a move on Rosso on a penultimate lap to join teammate Scott on the podium.

Cammish’s JTR teammate Sam Brabham?went backwards at the start of his first car race after starting seventh but produced a stunning comeback drive to fifth, passing Maranzana on lap 11.

?I didn?t make a great start,? said Brabham, son of David and grandson of Jack. “But after that I was able to pick my way through and catch up the leading pack. Then I lost the rear of the car and Nico got past me, but I was able to repass him on the last lap. It?s a very pleasing result for my first time.?

Behind Maranzana, Luke Williams and George Blundell completed the top eight ahead of James Abbott and Camren Kaminsky, who was suffering from engine and gearbox troubles.

Cammish is on pole for both of Sunday’s races.
