GB3 race-winner Joseph Loake will step up to the FIA Formula 3 Championship this year with the rebranded Rodin Motorsport team which was until recently known as Carlin.

Loake was a title contender in his first season of GB3 in 2023 with JHR Developments, winning four races and ending the campaign third in the standings.

His year ended on a high by winning the prestigious Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Award, collecting £200,000 and a Formula 1 test with Aston Martin as part of his prize.

The 18-year-old began his car racing career in the BRSCC’s Fiesta Junior championship in 2019, becoming champion in his second season by winning all eight races. He then spent two years in British Formula 4 with JHR, winning seven times and finishing sixth in the championship in 2021 and fifth in 2022.

“I’m so pleased to be moving to the FIA F3 Championship for the upcoming season,” said Loake. “To have been given the incredible opportunity to race in such a fantastic championship with Rodin Motorsport is something I could have only dreamed of a few months ago, so I cannot wait to get cracking and make the most of it.”

Loake will be team-mate to Callum Voisin, who beat him to the GB3 title last year.

“Joseph is a driver who has already done great things in his short career,” said Rodin’s F3 team manager Sam Waple. “He’s adapted well to every car he’s ever driven and I’m really looking forward to seeing what he can do behind the wheel of the F3 car.

“While it’s going to, no doubt, be a big challenge for him I have confidence that he will work well with the team and put everything into the upcoming year. I can’t wait to start working together.”
