Drivex School will return to the Euroformula grid this weekend with two cars for Ayrton Simmons and Daniel Nogales.

The team dissapeared from the paddock last weekend when the series was at Imola, despite paying to enter two cars and informing the series organiser GT Sport it planned to compete.

At the same time, Drivex had informed Simmons it would not be racing and that ultimately transpired to be the case. Two cars have been entered again for this weekend’s trip to the Red Bull Ring, and it has been confirmed that the team truck has already left Spain for the long drive to Austria.

Simmons will be making his second appearance with Drivex, having joined the team for the Hungaroring round in July. He scored in all three races there, picking up his first podium in race two and fastest lap in race three.

Drivex had initially not been intending to contest the Red Bull Ring round, but on Wednesday called up Simmons saying it would be racing.

“In at the deep end!” said Simmons of his series return. “No simulator time, no prep, bags packed and flights booked for tomorrow where I should just make the grid walk at 5pm!”

The Anglo-Spaniard previously raced in Euroformula in 2020, contesting four rounds with Double R Racing. Either side of that campaign he raced in GB3 (nee BRDC British Formula 3), coming third in 2019 and second in the championship in 2021.

He also has some FIA F3 Championship experience, having contested the 2021 season finale and 2022 season opener with Charouz Racing System but not having the budget to contest any further races.

Nogales started this year with Teo Martin Motorsport in the Spanish Formula 4 championship but switched teams to Drivex ahead of the most recent round at Motorland Aragon. He is currently 21st in the standings with two points, and will be making his Euroformula debut.
