Felix Rosenqvist scores dominant Masters of F3 victory

Mucke’s Felix Rosenqvist turned this year’s Masters of Formula Three event at Zandvoort into a relaxing Sunday drive for himself as he dominantly converted pole into a lights-to-flag victory in the race.

While Rosenqvist managed a quick getaway off the line, fellow front row starter Harry Tincknell struggled, letting the Prema cars of Alex Lynn and Emil Bernstorff though.

Another Prema driver, Lucas Auer, allowed Sven Muller through on lap one and spent the first few laps attempting to pass the German. At one point, the duo collided after an outside attempt from the Austrian, putting both Auer and Muller out of the race.

While at no point was Rosenqvist’s lead particularly threatened, the Swede lost a couple of seconds avoiding a service vehicle in the latter stage of the race. The lost time did not prove crucial, however, and in the end the Mucke driver finished comfortably ahead of second-placed Lynn. German F3 regular Bernstorff rounded out the podium.

Tincknell finished in fourth ahead of teammate Jordan King, while another Carlin driver, Nicholas Latifi, was seventh behind Eddie Cheever – both of them inherting position when Tom Blomqvist hit trouble and subsequently brought his car to a stop in the pits with three laps to go.

Fortec drivers Pipo Derani and Will Buller were eighth and ninth respectively, while a very eventful race for Antonio Giovinazzi saw him secure tenth thanks to multiple overtakes.

This victory marks Rosenqvist’s second triumph in the Masters of F3 event after he’s won the race before in 2011 with the very same team. For Mucke, it’s win number three here, as they’ve also won the event with Christian Klien.
