ART’s Facu Regalia overcame intense opposition from Tio Ellinas to take the first GP3 pole of his career for the Nurburgring round of the series.
While Ellinas looked like the man to beat for most of the session, it was Regalia who eventually came out on top with a spectacularly good lap in the closing stages of the session. 0.054 off, the Cypriot was forced to settle for second.
The duo were in the league of their own, as third-placed Alex Fontana was 0.3s off. Jack Harvey was fourth, followed by compatriots Lewis Williamson, Nick Yelloly and Alexander Sims, who’s doing a one-off with the Status squad.
Red Bull youngsters Daniil Kvyat and Carlos Sainz, Jr. were eighth and tenth respectively, with Kevin Korjus lining up in ninth place.
