Tatiana Calderon has been signed by ThreeBond Racing with Drago Corse as the third ever female driver in Super Formula.
The 26-year-old Colombian raced in Formula 2 last year and finished a pointless 22nd in the standings, and was uncertain she’d be able to remain in the championship. She was also Alfa Romeo Racing’s test driver in Formula 1.
An Asian Formula 3 campaign with Seven GP, which has so far resulted in a best finish of fourth, has preceded a switch to Japan as a solo entry for the Honda-powered team.
?With ThreeBond DragoCORSE participating in the Super Formula series from this year, we conducted an extensive search for a driver and decided on Colombian female driver Tatiana Calderon,? said team owner Ryo Michigami.

ThreeBond raced in FIA European F3 in conjunction with T-Sport from 2012-?16, the same time Calderon was in the championship, and picked up five podiums with current BMW Andretti Formula E driver Alexander Sims.
It also finished third in the 2014 Macau Grand Prix with Nick Caissy, before switching to Japanese F3 in 2017 and?forming a relationship with Drago Corse to use its self-developed Tomei engines for a single season.

Calderon follows in the footsteps of England’s Divina Galica, who entered three races in 1980, and Irish woman Sarah Kavanagh, who drove twice in 1997 with Cerumo, which now competes in partnership with INGING.
Drago Corse started in single-seaters in 2014, contesting the final two SF rounds using Honda power.
It ran full seasons in 2015 and ?16 as a single-car operation, picking up a best finish of fourth before tying up with ThreeBond for a fruitful Japanese F3 season that included three wins for its driver Alex Palou.
