Reigning USF2000 champion Florian Latorre took his maiden pole position in Pro Mazda in qualifying around the streets of Toronto.
The Frenchman held on to pole by 0.006s over local driver Garett Grist.
Lucas Oil Raceway winner Weiron Tan was third, a tenth off and with points leader Santi Urrutia and his teammate Patricio O’Ward a further half a tenth down.
Opening practice pacesetter Timothe Buret was only sixth as the top Juncos driver, leading Cape’s Neil Alberico and two more Juncos men Will Owen and Jose Gutierrez.
Canadians Dalton Kellett and Daniel Burkett qualified tenth and 12th for their home race, with M1 Racing’s Victor Franzoni in between.
