Gabriel Gomez has been signed by Lando Norris’s LN4 Fusion team for its first FIA Formula 3 campaign, joining the previously-announced James Egozi.
With this latest signing the team, which has taken over the assets and F3 entry of AIX Racing, appears to be staying true to its stated goal of hiring drivers based on their talent rather than their ability to bring a sizeable budget.
The underfinanced Gomez has endured a difficult season this year after moving up to the Formula Regional European Championship with a new team, Rodin Motorsport. He finished 14th with a best result of fourth, which he achieved three times – at Monza and in both races at Paul Ricard. Indeed, half of his points for the year came in that one weekend in the south of France.
However, he was grateful for the opportunity Rodin had given him even to be on the grid. Speaking to Formula Scout at the final round of the championship at Hockenheim, Gomez admitted that “of course plan A is to go to FIA F3, but then we are not sure yet about budget, about teams and everything. This is quite tricky.”
He conceded that he might need to look outside single-seaters to keep racing. “Motorsport is something very big, it’s not only formula cars. What I love is to be racing, so if I am on the track, I am happy, so that’s what I want to do.”
In parting, Formula Scout suggested giving Lando Norris a call…
“I think it’s a good idea,” Gomez agreed. “When you don’t have the budget and you don’t have money from family, you really need to work a lot harder on and off the track to find out the budget to be racing, so let’s see what we can do.”
The 20-year-old began karting at home in Brazil before moving to Europe, where he won an Italian title and finished runner-up in the CIK-FIA European Championship in the OK class in both 2023 and 2024.
He began his single-seater career in Spanish Formula 4 in 2024 before switching to US Racing for 2025. He began the year with a dominant championship win in the Formula Winter Series, taking three wins and nine podiums, before finishing runner-up to Kean Nakamura-Berta in both the Italian F4 and E4 championships, with six wins across the two championships.
Gomez was naturally “really happy about this opportunity to join the LN4 Fusion team and race in FIA F3 next year! I’m grateful to the team, my sponsors, and everyone who has helped make this opportunity possible. I’m really looking forward to working with everyone involved in this new project, and I’m confident we can do a great job together on track!”
“Gabriel has shown impressive potential so far, and we look forward to working with him,” LN4 Fusion’s CEO Dan Richards added. “He has a remarkable resume, and we see all the ingredients for a positive season together. We are in for an exciting challenge, and we will start preparing as soon as possible to maximize what we can achieve.”
