Alpine Academy member Kabir Anurag will make his GB3 debut this weekend as he joins Xcel Motorsport for the last two rounds of the season.
The 18-year-old Singaporean will race at Donington Park’s Grand Prix layout and then at Monza two weeks later, making for a packed October as he concludes his Italian Formula 4 and E4 campaigns on the other two weekends of the month.
Anurag has been driving for US Racing in both, currently sitting 14th in the former and seventh in the latter where his best result from the first two rounds is a fourth place. At the start of 2025 he took two wins and came fourth in the Formula Winter Series standings with the team.
He already knows Xcel as at the end of last year he contested the F4-spec and United Arab Emirates-based Formula Trophy series, in which he won two races and came third in the points.
“I’m really excited to be back with the team and to take on the challenge of GB3,” said Anurag, who has recent test experience in the GB3 car.
“Donington and Monza are two incredible circuits, and I can’t wait to gain experience, push myself, and hopefully deliver some strong results. A big thank you to everyone who has made this possible – I’m looking forward to getting started this weekend.”
Xcel’s team manager Gary Bonnor said: “We’re very pleased to welcome Kabir back into the team. He showed great speed and maturity during his [FTrophy] campaign, and this step into GB3 is a natural progression for him. Donington and Monza will be fantastic learning opportunities, and we’re confident Kabir will quickly get up to speed and show what he’s capable of.”
Anurag has been backed by the Alpine Formula 1 team since April 2024, as he embarked on his first full year in single-seaters. Prior to his starring FTrophy outings with Xcel, his highlight of that year with US Racing were two fifth places in FWinter Series events.
