Formula Regional Oceania race-winner Chloe Chambers will step down to Formula 4 this year to race in the all-female F1 Academy series.

The 19-year-old American has signed with Spanish outfit Campos Racing, and will represent the Haas Formula 1 team.

“I’m super excited to be [representing the] Haas F1 Team with Campos Racing in F1 Academy,” said Chambers.

“Having the backing of Haas is going to open many doors for new experiences and it’s going to be a place where I can learn. I’m excited to be going to Miami for Haas’ and my home race, that’s a race I’m looking forward to.

“It’s my first season in F1 Academy, so I’m looking forward to getting good results and developing as a driver. I did some testing over the winter with Campos, and the team and I work very well together.”

Chambers last raced in F4 in 2021, when she was coached by former IndyCar stars Al Unser Jr and Sarah Fisher. Driving for the Future Star Racing team, she came 10th in the YACademy Winter Series, eighth in F4 Eastern and 26th in United States F4.

For 2022 she stepped up to FRegional and came 16th in W Series, another all-female championship, then made history at the start of 2023 by coming the first woman to win in FRegional Oceania. Chambers came ninth in the standings there.

A Porsche Sprint Challenge North America campaign followed, and with seven race wins she came sixth in the Pro/Am class for drivers in Porsche Caymans. She was also fourth in PSCNA’s GT4 Clubsport Juniors standings.

Haas’s new team principal Ayao Komatsu commented: “As a father to two karting enthusiasts myself, I know the importance of representation in encouraging the next generation to take that leap and follow their dreams. It was great to meet Chloe and see her enthusiasm for the season ahead, and the team thoroughly enjoyed getting to know her at the factory – from speaking with our engineers, participating in pit stop practice and undertaking her first media obligations.”

Campos’s team principal Adrian Campos Jr added: “We are delighted to give Chloe a warm welcome aboard. She has recently showed great progress in other racing series and Campos will work hard to give her the best possible package in order to be competitive in F1 Academy.”
