Piotr Wisnicki will graduate to the FIA Formula 3 championship with PHM Racing by Charouz for 2023, joining Sophia Floersch and Roberto Faria in the German-Czech team’s line-up.
After graduating up from karting, Wisnicki raced in the Italian Formula 4 championship in 2020 and 2021 with Jenzer Motorsport, scoring points on six occasions and with a highest race result of sixth place.
For 2022 the Pole steped up to Formula Regional Europe after Russian driver Kirill Smal was forced to depart his seat following his country’s invasion of Ukraine.
Wisnicki finished 21st in the opening race at Monza, his best result of the year, before his school exam commitments forced him to miss the second round at Imola. He saw out the rest of the season with KIC, coming 35th in the standings with no points.
“I am very happy that as a rookie I will be able to compete in such a strong F3 field together with PHM Racing,” said the 19-year-old.
“It’s a huge step in my career, and it’s going to require a lot of work from me. I would like to thank everyone at PHM Racing for the opportunity that will allow me to appear in this series.”
According to PHM’s team manager Roland Rehfeld: “Piotr has more skills than last year’s results in FREC have shown. Knowing him from his first years in F4 as a frontrunner, I am convinced of his natural speed.
“We have to work on procedures on and off track, but I really liked his way to bring himself into FIA F3. He needs to learn many tracks as same as his teammates, so we will take our time to generate the potential we have and bring it into results.”
