Edward Pearson will step up from British Formula 4 to GB3 this year, completing Fortec Motorsports’ line-up.
Pearson started out in karting, finishing fifth in both the British Kart Championship X30 Mini class in 2019 and the IAME Junior X30 Winter Cup in 2020.
The 16-year-old finished 17th in Ginetta Junior after moving into car racing in 2021, scoring a maiden podium finish with third in the final race of the season at Brands Hatch.
Last year he was 12th in the British F4 standings with Virtuosi, his best weekend again coming at the Brands Hatch finale where he scored a pair of fifth places.
“I am really looking forward to joining such a prestigious team,” said Pearson.
“Fortec bring a higher level of engineering to the car set up than I have experienced in the past, I am really excited by the possibilities.”
Pearson joins GB3 sophomore Max Esterson and 2022 GB4 runner-up Jarrod Waberski in Fortec’s three-car assault.
“We’re really pleased to complete our GB3 line-up with Edward,” said Fortec’s team manager Oliver Dutton.
“He’s certainly not afraid of a challenge, his rapid rise from karting to GB3 through Ginetta Junior and F4 is testament to that, and he’s shown encouraging signs of being a driver with plenty of potential, given that his results have constantly improved as the last two seasons have gone on.
“We look forward to working with him to further extract that potential, and are confident that he can be right in the mix with what’s going to be a very strong grid throughout the year.”
