Evans GP driver Patrik Pasma set the pace in Asian Formula 3’s pre-event test at Dubai Autodrome.
The Finn sat at the top of the times for much of the delayed morning session, before Hitech GP’s Ayumu Iwasa set a 1m55.852s lap with 10 minutes to go of the one-hour session.
Neither driver could improve on their laptimes after that point, leaving Red Bull junior Iwasa ahead by 0.320 seconds.
Pinnacle Motorsport’s points leader Pierre-Louis Chover was a further 0.046s back in third, and it was the same trio of drivers who were the ones to beat in the afternoon session on the circuit’s Grand Prix layout.
It was Chovet who sat at the top of the times for the first half of the session, with Evans GP’s Alex Connor in second place. The British teenager is currently only testing with the team this weekend, but could join the grid to race in next week’s Abu Dhabi season finale.
Pasma and Iwasa then shuffled into the top two positions with 10 minutes to go, and this time Pasma came out on top to set the fastest lap of the day.
While Iwasa didn’t improve on his morning benchmark, he still remained second overall and just 0.056s off Pasma.
Mumbai Falcons’ Jehan Daruvala jumped up to third with his penultimate lap, with Chovet fourth and Abu Dhabi Racing by Prema’s David Vidales impressing in fifth after only going 17th fastest in the morning.
Hitech duo Roman Stanek and Roy Nissany were sixth and seventh, with Cem Bolukbasi (BlackArts Racing), Guanyu Zhou (Abu Dhabi Racing by Prema) and Kush Maini (Mumbai Falcons) rounding out the top 10.
Connor ended up going no faster than in the morning and was 13th fastest.
