Reigning Britcar Endurance champion Sarah Moore set the pace in the second W Series free practice session at Assen, as two of the title contenders struggled.

After Alice Powell and Vicky Piria had spent lengthy spells at the top, Moore put in a lap with just two minutes to go that was almost a quarter of a second faster than the existing benchmark.

A late flyer put championship leader Jamie Chadwick in third, a further two tenths behind Piria, while her main title rivals Beitske Visser and Marta Garcia ended up 12th and 14th, both over a second off the pace.

Jessica Hawkins followed up her impressive FP1 performance with the fifth fastest time, while 0.069s covered Emma Kimilainen, Gosia Rdest and Miki Koyama in sixth to eighth places.

Fabienne Wohlwend, the fourth of the title contenders, pipped Tasmin Pepper at the bottom of the top 10.
