Spa-Francorchamps has been dropped from the Italian Formula 4 calendar for 2024, with the series replacing the track with a first ever visit to Barcelona.
Italian F4 raced exclusively in Italy for its first four seasons, with the first international round taking place at Paul Ricard in 2018. The series raced at the Hungaroring and Red Bull Ring in 2019, with the latter track a staple of the calendar for four seasons.
Paul Ricard returned to the schedule in 2021, then was replaced by Spa last year. This year it returned again by replacing the Red Bull Ring, while the Spa round came under scrutiny due to driving standards and several scary crashes. Two months later there was a fatality in a Formula Regional European Championship race at the track.
The 2024 Italian F4 season will begin at Misano on the first weekend of May, with a gap of a month before round two at Imola. Two weeks after that is round three at Vallelunga, then the series visits Mugello on the first weekend of July.
The trip to Paul Ricard is on July 19-21, then there is another two-month gap before the Barcelona round on September 27-29. Monza hosts the season finale on October 25-27.
ACI Sport and WSK Promotion, the two organisations behind Italian F4, also run the Euro 4 championship and they have a four rounds planned for its second season.
The season-opening Hungaroring round on June 21-23 is actually yet to be confirmed, but the other rounds have had their dates finalised. Round two at Mugello will be on August 23-25, round three at the Red Bull Ring takes place on September 13-15 and the Monza finale will be on October 4-6.
