Prema has announced that Sebastian Montoya will be part of its Formula 2 line-up for a second season next year.
The 20-year-old Colombian-American has made the podium three times so far during his rookie campaign, and sits 10th in the standings ahead of this weekend’s season finale.
In 2026 he will be team-mate to Aston Martin-backed Mari Boya, who steps up from the FIA Formula 3 Championship.
“I’m really happy to be with the team again in 2026. I think the work we have done this year has been incredible, we had some ups and downs, but the biggest thing has been the learning process and how we’ve merged together,” said Montoya.
“The work combines really well, and in the end, we all have one goal. I think the mindset for next year is just to keep our head down, keep pushing, and see what it brings.”
Montoya previously raced for Prema in ADAC and Italian Formula 4 in 2020 and ’21, then in Formula Regional’s Asian and European championships in 2022. Two race wins in FRAC were the highlights of his first spell with the team.
“We are thrilled to have Sebastian with us again in 2026,” Prema’s team principal Rene Rosin said.
“We are confident in his potential, and with the pace he has shown so far this year, we look forward to seeing him compete with more experience under his belt. This year, he proved his ability to learn and progress even in such a testing environment as in FIA F2, and was a great team player all around.”
