Hitech GP has signed United Arab Emirates-based Scottish driver Seb Murray for the next Formula 4 UAE season.
The 16-year-old made his single-seater debut in the F4 UAE Trophy event at Yas Marina Circuit that supported last year’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and he finished his first two single-seater races with Xcel Motorsport in eighth and ninth place.
He spent most of 2022 in karting, coming ninth in the IAME UAE Series and 63rd in the IAME Euro Series for X30 Senior karts, and also racing those in a club event in England, and finishing ninth in Rotax Max Challenge UAE’s Rotax Senior class.
The full-time step up to F4 came at the start of 2023 as Murray joined Italian team Cram Motorsport for the F4 UAE season. He had a best finish of 13th from 15 races, and his best qualifying result was 24th.
After contesting several F4 tests in Europe, he then joined Scottish team Graham Brunton Racing in Britain’s GB4 championship for the last two rounds and he picked up three ninth places.
“I am delighted to join the Hitech team in the upcoming F4 UAE championship,” said Murray. “They have an amazing environment to be part of and winter testing has been great. I am really looking forward to helping the team deliver strong results, and hope we can score some wins together.”
The 2024 F4 UAE season takes place over five rounds in January and February at Dubai Autodrome and Yas Marina. Hitech, based by English track Silverstone, has contested the last two seasons and is one of several European teams in the series.
“We welcome Seb to the team for his return to the F4 UAE championship in 2024,” said Hitech’s F4 team manager Dominic Stott. “After taking the majority of 2023 out to study, Seb arrived for testing in the UK and immediately impressed us with his attitude and hard work.”
