Santiago Ramos has left the title-winning Trident for Van Amersfoort Racing as he embarks on a second FIA Formula 3 Championship season.
The Mexican was announced by VAR on his 21st birthday, and completes the team’s 2025 line-up alongside rookies Theophile Nael and Ivan Domingues.
He came 16th in last year’s standings with 44 points, scoring in eight races. His best result was second place in the Monza sprint race, and he claimed pole position at Imola.
“I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be joining VAR for the upcoming FIA F3 season,” said Ramos.
“After showing some strong pace last year, I’m confident that with VAR’s support and expertise, we’re set for an incredible season. I can’t wait to get back in the car and fight for great results together.”
Before F3, Ramos came 11th in the Formula Regional European Championship (claiming one podium from his two seasons), and 16th in Italian Formula 4 where he contested three part-time seasons.
“We are delighted to welcome Santiago to our FIA F3 team for the upcoming season,” VAR’s F3 team principal Brad Joyce said.
“We’ve followed his progress over the years and have been impressed by his skills and determination. Santiago showed great potential during his rookie F3 campaign, and we are confident that, with the right support and environment, he will be able to reach his full potential with us. We look forward to working with him and helping him continue advancing in his racing career.”
The only remaining vacant seats on the 2025 FIA F3 grid are at AIX Racing.
