Myles Rowe managed to usurp the otherwise dominant Dennis Hauger from the top of the Indy Nxt timesheets in second practice in St. Petersburg.
After leading Friday’s first practice by over half a second, series debutant Hauger wasted little time at the beginning of the second session, lowering the pace to a 1m05.3830s within 10 minutes of the green flag.
Rowe showed his hand too for his new team Abel Motorsports, getting within 0.0618s of the Andretti driver’s benchmark.
Hauger continued to find more time over the rest of the 45-minute session. Around the midway point he set a 1m05.1544s, and then with 16 minutes to go he posted a 1m04.6858. That was followed on the next lap by a 1m04.3543s.
Soon afterwards however, Hauger brushed the wall in Turn 9 and bent a toe-link on the left-rear corner, which his team was able to repair to get him back on track before the session ended.
Meanwhile, with three minutes left on the clock, Rowe recorded a 1m04.2496s to top the session by just over a tenth of a second.
