Canadian racing driver Gianmarco Raimondo will make his debut in the GP2 series during the penultimate round of the championship at Singapore, where he will race for Italian squad Trident.
Raimondo, 22, will take the seat of the #21 car, which has been occupied by three other drivers throughout the previous nine rounds of the season.
The Singapore outing will mark Raimondo’s return to competitive junior single-seaters following his 2012 F3 Open campaign, in which he narrowly missed out on the title. Apart from that, the Canadian has amassed multiple race victories in Formula BMW Americas during his tenure in the series in 2008-2009, as well as a podium finish in the F3 Euro Series in 2011.
Trident’s regular driver Nathanael Berthon, who scored the team’s only victory in the 2013 GP2 season, is set to be retained for the Marina Bay round.
