Prema Powerteam signs Antonio Fuoco for Formula Renault 2.0 Alps

by Luis Miguel Martinez

Italian racer Antonio Fuoco has been confirmed as one of the drivers for the Prema Poweteam lineup in Formula Renault 2.0 Alps.

This will mark the debut in single seater racing for the 16-year-old but it won’t be his fist time driving them, as he completed a Formula Abarth test last year as a prize for winning the Supercorzo prize.

Fuoco comes from a successful karting career, placing third in the KF3 category in 2009 and second in 2010, won the Supercorzo prize in 2011, and in 2012 he finished third in the WSK Euroseries. All that was enough for the Ferrari Driver Academy to sign him up for 2013.

Last year Prema Powerteam had two drivers in their Formula Renault 2.0 Alps Lineup, consisting of?Luca Ghiotto and?Bruno Bonifacio, both with limited schedule, only racing in the last two rounds in Mugello and Catalunya. The team finished seventh in the team standings with 38 points, 22 by Ghiotto with a best finish of sixth and 16 by Bonifacio with a best finish of fourth. Ghiotto and Bonifacio will race for the team in the Eurocup this season.
