Freddie Slater will continue with Prema for his second year in Formula 4, racing for the team in the Italian F4 and Euro 4 championships.
The 15-year-old had a busy 2023, starring in karting, dominating the entry-level sportscar championship Ginetta Junior with R Racing then stepping up to F4 once he was old enough to.
He did the last two British F4 rounds with Double R Racing and claimed three fourth places, joined Van Amersfoort Racing for the last two Italian F4 rounds and got a best finish of fifth, and drove for Prema in two Euro 4 rounds and in the Macau Grand Prix’s F4 support races.
“Being part of Prema is a massive thing for me. I’m really excited to get going with them in 2024,” said Slater.
“We are working very hard over the winter to be the best versions we can be, the team, and myself. They are putting a lot of trust into me and hopefully, I can deliver, and I wouldn’t want to do it with any other team.”
Slater came 10th in the 2023 Euro 4 standings with a fourth place and a pole, and he finished second and ninth in the two races in Macau.
“Freddie made an impressive team debut and was competitive within an experienced pack of drivers,” Prema’s team principal Angelo Rosin said. “He definitely showed great promise, but obviously, we still have work to do together ahead of a season we expect to be particularly competitive. We look forward to supporting him as he moves forward, and to working with him in the 2024 season.”
