Oscar Piastri beat Lorenzo Colombo to the top spot in the second Formula Renault Eurocup free practice session at Paul Ricard.

The Australian’s last lap of the day put him 0.093 seconds ahead of Colombo, making them the only drivers to break the two minute lap time barrier.

Kush Maini was third again, and top rookie, for M2 Competition – just 0.033s clear of Colombo’s championship leading MP Motorsport team-mate Victor Martins.

The next MP car of Amaury Cordeel was in sixth, sandwiched by Piastri’s R-ace GP team-mates Alexander Smolyar and Caio Collet.

JD Motorsport’s Ugo de Wilde and Arden driver Sebastian Fernandez were eighth and ninth fastest, and less than a second slower than Piastri.

After a problem that left his car stopped on track in the first free practice session, FA Racing by Drivex’s Patrick Schott failed to participate in the second session of the day, while his team-mates failed to find the pace they had shown earlier on.
