Elite Motorsport’s Isaac Phelps and Hillspeed’s Daniel Guinchard were the winners of Sunday’s two GB4 races on Silverstone’s Grand Prix layout.

After claiming the points lead with victory in race one on Saturday, Alex Kattoulas lined up from pole in the sequel on day two. But he was beaten into Copse at the start by his team-mate Phelps, while Ary Bansal maintained third.

Fortec Motorsport’s Jack Taylor prevailed in a three-wide battle for fourth into Maggotts with Douglas Motorsport’s Luke Hilton and Arden’s Leon Wilson, while Hilton’s team-mate Dayton Coulthard held off Guinchard for seventh. Hilton tumbled down the order on the opening lap, and Fortec’s Luca Magnussen caused an early safety car period by spinning into retirement at Abbey.

Just one green-flag lap followed before the safety car was required again due to ADM’s Jason Pribyl spinning out. But during that time Coulthard lost out to Guinchard into Stowe and then had a trip across the gravel later in the lap following a collision with Fortec’s Thomas Ingram-Hill, who was another to retire.

Just three minutes were left on the clock when the race restarted for a second time. Phelps remained ahead to lead home Kattoulas and Bansal, as Elite locked out the podium for the second time this season.

Taylor held on to fourth despite being challenged by Wilson, who lost out during the battle and slipped behind Hillspeed duo Guinchard and Leandro Juncos.

Wilson was shuffled back to ninth by the finish, as Coulthard came home seventh ahead of KMR’s Sport’s Alex O’Grady. Hilton hit further trouble in the closing stages and ended up one lap down in 21st, and was subsequently excluded for driving in a manner not compatible with general safety.

Pribyl led initially in the reversed-grid finale, as Graham Brunton Racing’s polesittter Callum Baxter dropped to fourth behind Guinchard and Juncos.

Guinchard capitalised on an error from Pribyl at Club to take the lead, and he eventually took the chequered flag 1.132 seconds clear of the American following a late safety car period for his maiden GB4 win – regaining the points lead in the process.

Juncos completed the podium a further 0.6s behind, while Bansal made up five places to fourth ahead of Baxter to claim a three-way tie for second in the points with his Elite team-mates.

Kattoulas climbed from 12th on the grid to pass Coulthard for sixth on the final lap, but was then spun around after the latter tried to fight back into Luffield. Coulthard slipped to eighth behind Ingram-Hill and GBR’s Mayer Deonarine, while Kattoulas ended up 20th.

Phelps finished 12th after being hampered by a collision with Taylor, who retired with suspension damage. GBR’s Alex Berg also had a race-ending clash with Hilton, who damaged his front-wing and was further compromised by a five-second track limits penalty.
