Patricio Gonzalez will make his GB3 debut at Silverstone with Velocity Racing Development, which will field a three-car line-up for the rest of the season.

Gonzalez has spent the last two years racing in the USA alongside his older brother Rodrigo, who will also be making his GB3 bow at Silverstone with Chris Dittmann Racing.

The 16-year-old Mexican competed in karting before stepping up to single-seaters in 2024. He has come seventh in the YACademy Winter Series for the last two years, was 15th in USF Juniors in 2024 and is currently ninth in the standings in his sophomore campaign – with fourth place being his best result.

Gonzalez has also stepped up to USF2000 in 2025 for a part-time campaign, with ninth his best finish.

“I’m really excited to be joining VRD and to make my European racing debut in the GB3 championship,” he said. “This is a big step in my career and an amazing opportunity to keep growing as a driver.

“I’ve learned a lot racing in the USA over the past couple of years, and now I’m ready to take on the challenge of faster cars and legendary circuits. I’m very grateful to the team for believing in me, and I’m ready to give it everything and keep learning every weekend.”

He will also contest the subsequent rounds at Brands Hatch, Donington Park and Monza with the Anglo-American outfit alongside Hugo Schwarze and Red Bull junior Enzo Tarnvanichkul, the latter returning for the final four events after appearing at the opening round.

“Patricio is a great signing for us in GB3, he’s just the kind of driver we enjoy working with, one with a lot of potential and some great results behind him already, “ said VRD team principal Dan Mitchell.

“It’s a big jump considering his experience, and the combination of a much quicker car and a first step into European racing will be a lot to take on board.

“So all we ask initially is for him to absorb the new environment and then start pushing closer to the front as the events go by. I can’t wait to see how he gets on in the second half of the season, and we’re delighted to be expanding to a full three-car line-up too.”
